Golden Hamster

The animal i'm going to research about is the Golden Hamster. Its scientific name is the Mesocricetus Auratus. I chose it because I was curious why it was endangered, since it is very commonly seen as a pet or research animal. Some things I want to know about the Golden Hamster is why it is endangered, isn't it a research/pet animal? I also want to know how humans are involved in it. No matter the outcome, I know that I will enjoy researching the Golden Hamster.
